The furthest town from the sea on the Drowned Coast, at the end of the rail line past Blackwater Reach. Ashgrove is a respectable college town of ivy, lectures, and libraries, and it has more than its share of professors who spend their careers studying things the rest of the coast prefers not to think about.

What everyone knows

  • The university dominates the town: its faculty, its students, its museum, and above all its library.
  • The special collections are open to faculty only, and admission requires a signature from the head librarian.
  • Visiting scholars come from all over the world to study there. Some stay longer than they planned.

Rumors

  • A professor of anthropology spent a year in Saltmarrow and came back unable to sleep.
  • The museum’s basement holds more than its catalog lists.
